Employment In New Zealand

If you are interested in working in New Zealand you are welcome to upload your CV here. Please follow the instructions carefully. Once your CV is successfully uploaded on our website, you will get an automatic reply. The CV will stay online for three months.  You will only be contacted should there be a work offer for you.

Due to better working conditions in Australia and the UK a number of skilled New Zealanders are leaving their homeland. Therefore the demand for skilled migrants is relatively high.

The Department of Labour reports that although the unemployment rate rose to 7.3% in the December 2009 quarter, the number of people employed was relatively steady after large declines were reported in the first three quarters of 2009. Employment fell by a total of 51,000 people over the first nine months of 2009. Strong economic growth over the December 2009 quarter, as well as other more recent indicators which show an increased demand for workers, is consistent with a labour market that is reaching a turning point.

The Department of Labour’s Jobs Online index showed a 6.6% rise in the number of advertised vacancies in the three months to February 2010 while the National Bank Business Outlook for February reported a net 9.3% of firms intend to increase staffing levels over the next year.

There is currently a strong demand for computer technicians & programmers, IT specialists, nurses & health professionals (most areas), engineers of various shades, marketing professionals, finance executives including accountants, and most especially trades people (of every description), as well as boat builders and telecommunications related technicians.

Obviously demand for certain occupations go up and down and it is very difficult to generalise.
